How many paths lead to God?
You might hope that the answer to the question about how many paths lead to God is obvious. But unfortunately many people believe that many paths lead to God. They must be reading a different bible or not reading God’s word at all. The apostle Paul warned that many people would be deceived in the last days:
Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first…
2 Thessalonians 2:3 (NKJV)
Sadly, the falling away that the Apostle Paul refers to is about the church falling away from the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ just before Jesus returns to rule the earth. This is exactly what we see happening today. In fact the deception is growing exponentially.
Of course, we know that there are many outside the church who also believe that there are many paths to God. Not only has Oprah, who's known as the queen of the new age movement, declared publicly that Jesus can’t be the only way to get to heaven, but even the Pope has also said that atheists can go to heaven as long as they do good. Wait a minute, what happened to believing that Jesus is the Son of God being the way to achieve salvation? Is the Pope also reading a different bible?
Well, Oprah and the Pope might be the spiritual leaders of millions in the world today, but the spiritual authority in my life is Jesus Christ. So, let’s see what Jesus says about this matter.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6 (NKJV)
This is about as clear as it can get. Does it sound like Jesus allowed for any wiggle room for anyone to find another path to salvation? Certainly not! But He didn’t stop there. Jesus also said this:
I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.
John 10:9 (NIV)
But not everyone will choose to enter through the narrow gate, which is Jesus. In fact, the Bible makes it clear that most people will opt for another way to get to heaven but they will fail and their failure will have eternal consequences.
Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
Matthew 7:13 (NKJV)
If ever there was a time when the church has fallen away from the truth, I think it’s safe to say that we’re witnessing it happening right before our very eyes.
Let’s all do our part to help our friends, neighbors, and loved ones find their way to the narrow gate (Jesus Christ) which is their only hope for salvation and eternal life.
God bless,
Dan
